Shougang Lanza (02553) shares jumped more than 6% in early trading on Thursday, before easing to a gain of roughly 4.4% to HK$17.84 at the time of writing, with turnover reaching approximately HK$5.99 million.

The rally came after the company announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hebei Shoulang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., had been awarded the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification for the European Union scheme (ISCC EU) by SCS Global Services on September 14, 2026. This marks the first time such a certification has been granted in the global recycled carbon fuel sector.

ISCC EU is a certification system recognized by the European Union and serves as a key market access credential for green fuels entering the European market. Obtaining this certification signifies that the group's ethanol products, produced from industrial waste gas, now possess the necessary international sustainability credentials for use as raw materials in producing sustainable green fuels.

With the ISCC EU certification in hand, the group's ethanol products can be sold as certified recycled carbon fuel directly into the EU's marine and road transport fuel markets, and can also enter the aviation fuel markets of the EU and the United Kingdom.

The certification is expected to unlock overseas fuel supply chain channels for the group, particularly in helping its products align with the EU's ReFuelEU aviation carbon-reduction initiative. This move broadens the group's international layout in the green fuel business.
