汽车公司敦促特朗普政府在明年的北美贸易协定重新谈判中争取关税减免。
在提交给美国贸易代表的信函中，汽车制造商表示，当美国-墨西哥-加拿大协议（USMCA）在2026年进行评估时，来自加拿大和墨西哥的产品关税应予以重新评估。
目前，来自墨西哥和加拿大的汽车及其零件面临25%的关税，但对组装在美国的汽车零件有一定减免。
吉普制造商Stellantis表示，符合USMCA标准的车辆的最终关税应“取消，或至少大幅度减少”，部分原因是与在关税较低国家制造汽车的公司相比，面临竞争优势。
代表丰田和现代等在美运营的外国汽车制造商的贸易集团“汽车驱动美国”表示，敦促三国达成协议，“恢复USMCA来源车辆和零件的免税待遇”。
