China-ASEAN Digital Transformation Cooperation Forum Held During Digital China Summit

The China-ASEAN Digital Transformation Cooperation sub-forum was successfully held on the afternoon of April 28 in Fuzhou as part of the Ninth Digital China Summit. Organized by the National Data Administration and undertaken by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the sub-forum aimed to strengthen digital economy collaboration with ASEAN nations and establish a platform for exchange and cooperation.

Opening remarks were delivered by Zhao Zenglian, Vice Governor of Fujian Provincial People's Government, and Song Xianrong, Deputy Director-General of the Data Resources Department of the National Data Administration. Representatives from ASEAN countries included Norfarina Mohd Azmi, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Malaysia in China; Velly Janry J. L. P. S, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China; and Le Trung Kien, Economic Counselor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in China. Cui Lin, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, presided over parts of the event. Approximately 100 representatives from government, enterprises, academic institutions, and international organizations from China and ASEAN countries attended.

Under the theme "China-ASEAN Digital Collaboration for a New Future of Digital Development," the forum focused on deepening cooperation in the digital economy between China and ASEAN nations. Through thematic exchanges and roundtable dialogues, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as digital transformation opportunities in ASEAN, international cooperation practices in the data field, green transformation of digital infrastructure, and the development and application of data elements.

During the thematic exchange session, representatives highlighted the opportunities presented by digital transformation in ASEAN and expressed a shared desire to seize these opportunities, expand multilateral cooperation, and promote sustainable progress in the digital economy. Officials from provincial data administrations in Fujian, Henan, Hainan, and Yunnan shared their experiences and achievements in international data cooperation and local digital development initiatives.

In the roundtable dialogue, 12 participants exchanged views on the green transformation of digital infrastructure and the development and application of data elements. Discussions covered multiple perspectives including research and development, technological innovation, industrial application, talent cultivation, and data circulation, with the goal of sharing sustainable development experiences and exploring pathways for digital transformation.
