On July 31, iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF rose 3.57% in pre-market trading, trading at $79.83/share, with turnover of $8,217.17. The surge was driven by heavyweight constituent Samsung Electronics reporting blockbuster Q2 results that significantly exceeded market expectations.

Samsung Electronics posted Q2 revenue of ₩171.49 trillion, up 130% year-over-year, with operating profit surging 1,813.8% to ₩89.49 trillion and net profit soaring approximately 1,300% to ₩71.62 trillion (approximately $49.6 billion). The outstanding performance was fueled by robust AI infrastructure capital expenditure driving sustained demand for its memory chip business, particularly high-bandwidth memory (HBM) semiconductors. Samsung also disclosed that its foundry division has secured 2nm process orders from cloud service providers and projected that server-centric demand will remain strong in the second half of the year. The earnings beat from this emerging market bellwether triggered renewed capital inflows into the broader EM space.

The fund generally invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index, which is designed to measure large-, mid-, and small-cap equity market performance in global emerging markets.
