DBS has been awarded the title of the world’s best artificial intelligence (AI) bank in the first-ever Global Finance AI in Finance Awards this year.

The bank began utilizing AI in 2014 and has since made significant investments in its platforms, processes, and workforce, according to its statement on October 15. One of the key ways DBS employs AI is by providing hyper-personalized nudges that assist customers in making more informed investment and financial planning choices. This technology also empowers its relationship managers with deeper insights to better serve their clients. In 2024, Harvard Business School documented the bank's AI strategy in a case study, marking the first of its kind focused on an Asian bank.

“DBS is honored to be recognized globally by Global Finance for our leadership in AI. This award confirms our unwavering commitment to innovation and the substantial investments we have made over the past decade,” stated DBS CEO Tan Su Shan. "Our robust foundation has allowed us to implement transformative AI innovations throughout the bank – from enhancing fraud protection to empowering our employees and optimizing risk management. As DBS continues on its journey to become an AI-enabled bank with a heart, we remain dedicated to using AI responsibly, combining machine intelligence with human empathy to strengthen the trust our customers place in us.”
