Samudera Shipping Line has announced its business update for the third quarter ended September 30, 2025, revealing a year-on-year increase in container shipping volumes to 503,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up from 486,000 TEUs reported in the year-ago period.
Despite the increase in shipping volumes, the average freight rate for the quarter declined both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year to US$252 per TEU, compared to US$263 in the previous quarter and US$287 in the same period last year. The company acknowledges that market conditions remain unstable within the container shipping sector.
In its bulk and tanker segment, all vessels continue to operate under charter contracts. However, operational difficulties and elevated dry docking costs associated with certain vessels have negatively affected the segment's operating margins.
In the logistics segment, the company reported handling 627,000 pallet equivalents during the quarter, reflecting both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year growth, driven by heightened activities in its fourth-party and third-party logistics operations.
On October 29, shares of Samudera Shipping Line gained 1 cent, or 1.026%, closing at 98.5 cents.
