According to data from TONGCHENGTRAVEL, during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the proportion of users booking 2 or more cities simultaneously increased by over 20% year-on-year. Domestic hotel bookings for stays of 2 consecutive days or more saw year-on-year growth exceeding 52%, while high-quality hotel bookings in non-tier-one cities surged by over 90% compared to the same period last year. Based on group tour departures from TONGCHENGTRAVEL's vacation stores during the holiday, spending by non-tier-one city users on domestic and outbound group tour products increased by over 33% year-on-year.
With the convergence of two major passenger flows - returning home to visit relatives and leisure travel - the demand for long-distance inter-regional trips significantly increased during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data shows that during the 2025 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, domestic flight segments of 400-800 kilometers, 800-1200 kilometers, and over 3200 kilometers each accounted for more than 20% of total bookings. Among these, flight segments over 3200 kilometers grew by 14% year-on-year, ranking first in growth rate among all flight segment categories included in the statistics. Xinjiang emerged as a popular origin and destination for flight segments exceeding 3200 kilometers.
With the increasing maturity of intelligent transfer solutions such as air-to-air transfers and air-to-rail transfers, more travelers are choosing to travel via connecting flights during long holidays. This allows them to enjoy more cost-effective airfares while having the opportunity to "visit an additional city" at their transfer point. TONGCHENGTRAVEL data indicates that during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, connecting flight tickets on certain routes were priced over 30% lower than direct flights. The top five domestic connecting routes by flight segment volume during the holiday were Beijing-Shanghai-Shenzhen, Beijing-Shanghai-Chengdu, Harbin-Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Shanghai-Chongqing, and Urumqi-Chengdu-Guangzhou.
