The tax authority analyzed value-added tax invoice data to examine sales revenue across relevant consumer industries during the National Day holiday.
The results showed that during the holiday, services consumption nationwide was robust, with average daily sales revenue in related industries rising 19.5% year on year. Consumption of certain goods was also solid, with relatively strong sales growth in home appliances, digital electronics, and kitchen and bathroom products.
First, tourism consumption showed vibrant energy, and accommodation options became more diverse. During the National Day holiday, the tourism consumer market remained highly active, with sales revenue from tourism sightseeing and entertainment services increasing 23.6% year on year, among which travel agency services and amusement parks grew 26.2% and 41.2%, respectively. Driven by tourism consumption, diversified accommodation demand was unleashed, with economy chain hotels and homestay services rising 6.3% and 12.8%, respectively.
Second, dining consumption was strong. During the holiday, family gatherings, wedding banquets, and other activities drove robust dining consumption, with catering service sales revenue up 9% year on year. In particular, specialty food streets and night market economies flourished, boosting snack services by 15.5%; fast food services grew 30.6%, providing convenience for consumers dining while traveling; the rapid development of new-style tea drinks drove beverage and cold drink services to increase more than twofold year on year.
Third, culture, sports, and entertainment integration improved in quality and took on a fresh look. During the holiday, the culture, sports, and entertainment sectors continued to enrich new formats and diversified offerings of new scenarios, effectively promoting the development of the consumer market. Many places hosted concerts, cultural performances, and folk activities, driving sales revenue from cultural and arts services up 20.9% year on year, among which literary and artistic creation and performance services and mass cultural and sports activities grew 21% and 28.3%, respectively. Traffic from events such as the China Open was transformed into consumption growth, driving sports service sales revenue up 29.4% year on year.
Fourth, sales of home appliances, digital electronics, and kitchen and bathroom products were outstanding. During the holiday, influenced by factors such as part of the subsidies for trade-ins of consumer goods landing before the holiday, the concentrated launch of new digital products, and the concentrated release of rigid demand for household upgrades during the long holiday, sales revenue from household appliances and audio-visual equipment rose 40.1% year on year, among which retail sales of daily-use home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines grew 40.6%, and retail sales of home audio-visual equipment such as televisions grew 36.6%. Sales revenue from communication equipment such as mobile phones and smart bands increased 119.8% year on year. Retail sales of kitchen utensils and sanitary ware rose 52.3% year on year.
Fifth, self-pleasing consumption such as pet care, fitness, and beauty and hairdressing grew relatively fast. During the National Day holiday, self-pleasing consumption became a new growth pole, with consumption vitality in pet services, fitness shaping, and beauty and hairdressing stimulated, driving sales revenue from resident pet services, fitness and leisure activities, and hairdressing and beauty services up 80.8%, 16.7%, and 37.1% year on year, respectively.
