A specialized training program focused on digital technology applications for high-quality young farmers in 2026 has recently been launched, jointly organized by the Dehong Prefecture Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau along with the Prefecture Agricultural Radio and Television School, and the Communist Youth League Dehong Prefecture Committee.

More than 60 young crop and livestock farmers, heads of agricultural enterprises, self-media content creators, and individual business owners from across the prefecture's counties and cities have enrolled in the 10-day intensive course, which aims to strengthen their capabilities in digital e-commerce and build a talent pipeline for rural revitalization.

The training initiative emphasizes collaboration between the prefecture and educational institutions, creating a platform for youth development. The curriculum is centered on core competencies in digital-smart e-commerce, balancing both theoretical depth and practical applicability. Classroom sessions cover topics such as the development logic of Dehong's e-commerce sector in the digital economy era, along with strategies for uncovering agricultural product value and refining selling points, with university professors and industry experts providing in-depth interpretations of policy and market trends. Hands-on components focus on key skills including agricultural product photography, short video planning, AI-generated content tool applications, and livestream operations and presentation techniques, supported by lead instructors and teaching assistants who guide participants throughout the process. In parallel, trainees engage in self-paced online learning through the Yunnan Smart Farmer app, creating a well-rounded training model that combines intensive offline instruction, online reinforcement, and practical exercises.

During the training period, a comprehensive organizational management system has been established, featuring designated team leaders, head teachers, and deputy head teachers to oversee daily operations. A class committee has been elected, including a class president, vice president, and officers responsible for discipline, publicity, and welfare. Group-based management and vehicle coordination mechanisms have also been implemented. Additionally, a quantitative set of class rules has been introduced, with point-based assessments covering classroom conduct, attendance, and participation levels. Clear management requirements regarding centralized accommodation and dining, as well as supervised group movement during off-campus practice sessions, have been defined to help participants maintain proper learning attitudes and adhere to training discipline, ensuring the program proceeds in an orderly and efficient manner.

According to the training schedule, after completing local theoretical and practical coursework in Mangshi, participants will travel together to Chuxiong for several days of on-site instruction. Through observing advanced e-commerce operating models and exchanging insights on industry development experiences, they will broaden their development perspectives.

This training represents a concrete step by Dehong Prefecture to implement Yunnan Province's digital countryside construction plans and the province's requirements for cultivating high-quality farmers. It aligns with the strategic vision of building a Digital Yunnan and the core mission of talent development for rural revitalization. Leveraging Dehong's unique position as a frontier gateway facing South and Southeast Asia, the program is designed to cultivate a new generation of young agricultural professionals who are culturally aware, technically skilled, business-savvy, and innovative.

Upon completing the training, participants will integrate digital-smart technologies throughout the entire agricultural chain, from production and processing to sales. This will help Dehong's specialty agricultural products expand into broader markets, build stronger brands, and reach international audiences, injecting robust youthful momentum into the province's agricultural digital transformation and border-area rural revitalization efforts.
