China Tightens Export Controls on Drone-Related Dual-Use Items to the United States

Aug 05

China's Ministry of Commerce has announced stricter export controls on drone-related dual-use items destined for the United States, effective immediately from August 5.

This decision, based on the Export Control Law of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations on the Export Control of Dual-Use Items, is aimed at safeguarding national security and interests while fulfilling international non-proliferation obligations.

The new measures apply to drones and their critical components, as well as related technologies, that are listed in the Dual-Use Items Export Control List. Each export application to the US will now undergo a rigorous case-by-case review, and the standard licensing facilitation procedures will no longer apply.
