On August 18, the Shijiazhuang Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Division partnered with Meituan to launch the "No Red Light Running" traffic safety incentive program. Through positive reinforcement, the initiative aims to enhance riders' traffic safety awareness, reduce the incidence of red light violations and other traffic infractions, while providing additional income opportunities for riders. On the first day of the program's launch, red light running behavior among Shijiazhuang riders showed a significant 18% decline compared to the previous period.

Starting August 18, Meituan will use its intelligent safety system to monitor rider behavior at key intersections and road segments. During the program period, delivery riders who refrain from running red lights and complete their basic order quota can receive rewards ranging from 20 to 45 yuan. Those who maintain no red light violations while completing their basic order quota after one week can earn an additional 888 yuan reward.

Under the guidance of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Division, Meituan held the launch ceremony for the no red light running program.

"I used to think delivery was urgent, and sometimes when I saw no cars at intersections, I'd want to rush through quickly. Even though I'd feel nervous inside, worried about 'what if?' Now it's different - being safe means I can keep making deliveries every day, and my family doesn't have to constantly worry about me. That's worth more than anything," said Cao Yanhong, a Shijiazhuang rider, during an interview.

This year, Meituan has launched "No Red Light Running" safety incentive programs in various cities under the guidance of local traffic police and relevant departments. Through positive reinforcement methods such as cash rewards, the company has improved riders' traffic safety awareness and achieved remarkable results. In May this year, Meituan piloted the "Wait for Light Reward" program in cities like Jinan and Quanzhou, where riders could earn up to over 400 yuan additional income per week, and red light running behavior among riders in pilot cities decreased by 26% compared to the previous period.

Additionally, Meituan has implemented a "Safety Score" system in over 100 cities nationwide, where riders with high safety scores can receive monthly bonuses and various benefits.

Shijiazhuang riders wore uniforms with "I Promise Not to Run Red Lights" messaging.

In recent years, Meituan has constructed a comprehensive traffic safety management system covering "prevention before incidents, intervention during incidents, and control after incidents" through measures including smart helmets, dangerous behavior warnings, and violating rider management. Currently, Meituan has distributed over 1 million smart helmets to riders nationwide and has collaborated with traffic police departments in 39 cities to significantly reduce red light running rates among riders at key intersections.
