Iran Claims to Have Downed US Military Drone Amid Rising Tensions, Gold and Silver Decline While Oil Surges

International gold and silver prices continued to decline during the session, while international crude oil futures surged sharply.

As of the time of writing, spot gold has fallen by over 1%, and spot silver has dropped by more than 2%.

Brent crude oil futures have expanded their gains to nearly 3%, with WTI crude also rising by over 2%.

According to the latest reports, the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement on the 26th, stating that the Revolutionary Guard shot down a U.S. military MQ-9 "Reaper" drone in Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf.

On the 26th, Iranian Armed Forces General Staff spokesperson Shekarchi stated that Iran is prepared for war. If the United States and Israel launch new attacks, Iran's response will be more severe and will involve new tactics. He added that if war resumes and Iran's exports are banned, Iran will block regional oil shipments.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command stated on the 25th that the U.S. military conducted "self-defense" airstrikes on missile launch sites and a mine-laying vessel in southern Iran. Iranian sources reported explosions in the port of Abbas, with the situation currently calm.

Recently, both the U.S. and Iran have indicated progress in negotiations. U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated on the 26th that the wording of the expected agreement with Iran may require "a few more days" of discussion.

According to reports from Iranian media on the 26th, Iran's Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei stated via social media that regional countries will no longer serve as "shields" for U.S. bases, and the United States will no longer have a "safe haven" in the region.
