COSMO LADY Issues Swift Apology Over Controversial Descriptions Deemed Offensive to Women

Apr 21

On April 21, it was reported that recent user complaints highlighted a product on a shopping app labeled with terms such as "Small Landmine Bra" by COSMO LADY, which caused public discomfort due to its inappropriate connotations.

On the evening of April 20, COSMO LADY issued an official apology statement. The company expressed deep regret and acknowledged its mistake, stating that the term "Small Landmine" carries derogatory implications towards women or borders on being offensive. Regardless of the term's origin or who published it, once associated with the COSMO LADY brand, the responsibility lies entirely with the company. "We make no excuses and will not shift blame to distributors or any third parties," the statement read.

COSMO LADY confirmed that immediately after the incident, it initiated an urgent, comprehensive self-inspection across all sales channels and distributors. All product highlights and links containing the term "Small Landmine" or similar inappropriate keywords have been removed or delisted. Customer service teams have been instructed to openly admit mistakes when handling related inquiries, avoid evasion, and promptly report feedback to the brand.

Internally, the company has launched a specialized rectification effort, which is currently ongoing. COSMO LADY further committed to completing a full secondary review of all e-commerce pages, social media content, and product descriptions within three days to ensure no derogatory or borderline terms targeting women remain. Within one week, the company will distribute an internal "Content Review Red Line Manual" outlining a list of prohibited vocabulary, requiring signed confirmation from all employees and distributors. Within two weeks, a joint penalty mechanism for distributor content violations will be established, with the brand taking primary responsibility while also holding violating parties accountable without leniency.
