Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, Shandong Suncadia Medicine Co., Ltd., received marketing approval from the National Medical Products Administration for Henagliflozin Proline, Retagliptin Phosphate, and Metformin Hydrochloride Sustained-release Tablets (Ⅰ, Ⅱ). This product is the first oral triple fixed-dose combination independently developed in China, intended as an adjunct to diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes who have inadequate glycemic control on metformin monotherapy.

Diabetes prevalence in China has reached 13.79% among adults, according to international data cited in the announcement. This new once-daily formulation aims to simplify regimens and potentially improve patient adherence through three complementary mechanisms of action. It avoids increasing the pill burden, which is a key factor influencing medication compliance.

The total accumulated research and development investment in this product is reported to be approximately RMB 189.24 million. While it represents the first of its kind in the domestic market, an imported version comprising similar ingredients is already available internationally. The statement notes that post-approval production and sales remain subject to possible uncertainties. The company focuses on strict quality and safety control across all stages of development, manufacturing, and sales.
