Based on the latest data from Chinese online travel platforms, the upcoming Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday period is set to witness a notable increase in both domestic and international travel activity. A forecast report released by a major Chinese travel platform on September 17th indicates that inbound flight bookings have surged by approximately 6% compared to the same period last year.

According to the report covering the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday travel period (from September 25th to October 7th), inbound flight ticket bookings have exceeded 1.11 million, marking a roughly 6% year-on-year increase. As the dual holidays approach, booking momentum across China's domestic travel market continues to climb steadily.

Data from the platform's civil aviation official direct-sales channel shows that, as of September 14th, domestic flight ticket bookings for the holiday period have surpassed 8.58 million, representing a year-on-year growth of over 10%. Furthermore, bookings for domestic routes covering distances exceeding 2,000 kilometers have topped 1.74 million tickets, showing a significant increase of approximately 14% year-on-year.

The dual holidays are also fueling the outbound travel market. The report highlights that outbound flight bookings during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays have exceeded 1.21 million, an increase of about 4% year-on-year. Cross-border travel demand during this period is widespread, with both long-haul and short-haul destinations experiencing travel booms. The United Kingdom and Russia are among the popular long-distance destinations, while South Korea and Thailand have attracted significant numbers of travelers as neighboring options.

Notably, flight bookings to Seoul have surged by more than 50% year-on-year, while bookings to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, and London have all grown by over 20% compared to last year.

On the inbound travel front, the continued implementation of visa facilitation policies is driving strong business and tourism demand. Data reveals that the top ten popular inbound destinations for the holiday period are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Chongqing, Qingdao, Hangzhou, and Kunming. Among these, inbound flight bookings to Chongqing have risen notably by about 40% year-on-year, while those to Xiamen have increased by approximately 26%. Additionally, bookings for inbound travel to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen have each seen year-on-year growth of around 20%.
