Samsung 9100 PRO SSD Adds 8TB Version with Sequential Read Speeds Up to 14,800 MB/s

Samsung today announced the addition of an 8TB version to its 9100 PRO solid-state drive lineup, available in both heatsink and non-heatsink variants, starting at $999.99 (approximately 7,184 RMB at current exchange rates).

According to Samsung, this SSD delivers sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 13,400 MB/s, representing a performance improvement of up to 99% compared to the previous-generation 990 PRO. Random read speeds reach 2,200K IOPS, while random write speeds achieve 2,600K IOPS.

The drive features a PCIe 5.0 interface, providing "double the speed" compared to the previous-generation PCIe 4.0. Its 8TB capacity can accommodate approximately 80 large PC games, based on calculations using the average 90.6GB size of the top 11 games from Steam's "Best of 2024: New Releases" list.

The heatsink-equipped version measures 11.25mm in thickness and is compatible with Sony's PlayStation 5 gaming console. It also supports laptops, desktop computers, and other devices, delivering both performance and capacity upgrades.
