NIQ Unveils Product Intelligence to Empower AI-Driven Commerce

NIQ Global Intelligence has announced the official launch of NIQ Product Intelligence, a new solution designed to help retailers and brands transform fragmented product data into structured, interoperable intelligence to power AI-driven commerce applications.

As artificial intelligence increasingly reshapes how consumers discover, evaluate, and purchase products, the quality and completeness of product data have become a decisive competitive advantage. In an AI-led commerce environment, products lacking structured, rich, and machine-readable data risk being overlooked by recommendation engines, AI assistants, and autonomous shopping agents.

The company's Chief Product Officer stated that AI systems can only reason about products they truly understand. Product Intelligence creates a structured, interoperable layer of product data that addresses fragmentation, enriches product attributes, and enables AI systems to identify, compare, and recommend products with greater accuracy.

This solution tackles pain points such as scattered product data, inconsistent attributes, and isolated systems. For instance, traditional keyword searches might only find products containing exact terms like "protein snack," while AI-driven commerce requires a deeper understanding of consumer intent and context to handle nuanced requests like "healthy chocolate brownie alternative." Product Intelligence helps structure product data so AI systems can better interpret consumer needs.

NIQ Product Intelligence is built upon the company's global commerce data infrastructure, covering over 8,900 retailers in more than 90 countries. It encompasses a product catalog of over 246 million unique items and more than 10 billion maintained product attribute data points.

The solution assists brands and retailers in building a unified product intelligence layer, standardizing and enriching product attributes at scale, improving product matching and discoverability, and preparing products for the AI commerce environment.

This launch is the first major product within the company's broader commerce intelligence portfolio and will be a key focus at its annual C360 event in San Antonio, Texas, from June 8th to 11th. NIQ Product Intelligence is now available across the United States.
