To advance the demonstration county project for corn yield improvement in Weixin County, shoulder the responsibility of grain security, deliver the tangible benefits of the project to farmers, and prepare production materials for the 2027 spring plowing season in advance, Santao Village in Santao Township has recently carried out the distribution of project fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural machinery equipment in strict accordance with the project implementation plan. The policy benefits are being delivered directly to farming households, laying a solid material foundation for increased corn production and income.

As the core implementation area of the county's ten-thousand-mu high-yield corn demonstration zone, Santao Village has a total corn planting area of 11,000 mu. Under the unified project plan, the village is scheduled to distribute 464.2 tons of specialized fertilizer, totaling 11,605 bags. To precisely implement the benefit-to-farmers policy and focus assistance on low-income groups, the village has adopted a distribution model of "calculation by mu and classified allocation." In the first round, 10,925 bags of fertilizer were distributed universally to farmers based on their corn planting area, while the remaining 680 bags were allocated specifically to low-income residents with annual household incomes below 13,000 yuan, effectively reducing their agricultural production costs. As of now, the village has distributed a cumulative total of 353.92 tons of fertilizer, amounting to 8,848 bags, covering all 21 villager groups in the village. The distribution work is progressing steadily and in an orderly manner.

Alongside the orderly distribution of fertilizer, supporting agricultural machinery, green pest control facilities, and quality seeds have also been delivered in tandem, comprehensively strengthening the foundation for high-yield cultivation. For the high-yield demonstration zone, one low-altitude drone and five rotary tillers have been allocated to fully support mechanized farming and unified pest and disease control across the area. In the thousand-mu core demonstration zone, 30 sets of green pest control insect-killing lamps have been installed to promote physical green control technology and reduce pesticide use. For the 100-mu hundred-mu research plot, 200 bags of corn seeds have been distributed to ensure quality seed supply for the research field and implement the requirement of pairing good seeds with good methods.

"The corn yield improvement project is a good policy that safeguards grain security and benefits farmers. During the material distribution process, our village 'two committees' and the village-stationed work team have strictly followed the project's material management regulations, adhering to calculation by mu, classified allocation, registration and record-keeping, and signature confirmation, ensuring that the situation is clear, the accounts are transparent, and the distribution is accurate, so that every benefit-to-farmers material reaches the right household," said Chen Jianhua, deputy secretary of the Santao Village Party Committee.

At the same time, local agricultural technicians have been deployed to material distribution sites and into the fields, providing face-to-face instruction to farmers on scientific fertilization, rational close planting, green pest and disease control, and other high-yield corn cultivation techniques. They offer hands-on guidance on the proper use of quality seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural machinery, achieving simultaneous delivery of materials and technical services, and creating a dual push of benefits to farmers and the people.

"Buying fertilizer used to be a considerable expense. Now, with project subsidies, we can receive fertilizer directly, which truly eases the burden of farming. Moreover, technicians often come to the fields to teach us how to fertilize and how to prevent pests and diseases. With a bumper corn harvest, we feel much more confident," said Chen Huaixiang, a villager from Santao Village, happily holding the fertilizer she had just received.

Next, Santao Village will accelerate the completion of the remaining fertilizer distribution, routinely carry out field management and technical follow-up guidance for the demonstration plots, and fully utilize various agricultural machinery and green pest control facilities. The village will solidly advance the construction of "hundred-mu research plots, thousand-mu demonstration squares, and ten-thousand-mu high-yield fields," continue to play a demonstrative and radiating role, and make every effort to promote corn yield improvement, firmly hold the bottom line of grain security, and help increase agricultural efficiency and farmers' incomes.
