Opening Summary

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.04% at the start of trade to hover just below the 24,000 mark, reflecting investor caution amid muted regional leads. The China Enterprises Index and the Tech Gauge both tracked modestly lower, suggesting a tentative tone rather than a decisive directional push.

Large-cap internet names were broadly under pressure. NetEase, Meituan and Xiaomi led declines of 1–2%, dragging the Hang Seng Tech Index lower. Lenovo defied the trend, adding 1.4% after upbeat sentiment toward AI-related hardware demand.

Among individual movers, newly listed software group SOFTCARE jumped 9.4% to top the gainers’ list, while AI chip firm Z.AI climbed nearly 4% after announcing a new product rollout. On the downside, data-center operator GDS-SW slid almost 5%, extending recent weakness in cloud infrastructure plays.

Early sector rotation favored healthcare and biotech, with Weigao Group, Consun Pharma and SKB Bio all rising over 3%. Financials also saw selective buying, highlighted by a 3.6% pop in CZBANK, while resources and consumer names traded mixed as investors awaited further catalysts.
