Cathay Pacific Airways (00293) Announces January 2026 Share Movements and Public Float Update

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (00293) reported an increase in issued ordinary shares during January 2026, moving from 6,722,856,511 shares to 6,724,204,219 shares. The increase of 1,347,708 shares arose from the partial conversion of its 2.75% guaranteed convertible bonds due 2026, reducing the outstanding principal of the bonds from HK$30,000,000 to HK$20,000,000. The exercise price is HK$7.42 per share.

According to the announcement, Qatar Airways Group Q.C.S.C. has undertaken to sell 643,076,181 ordinary shares back to Cathay Pacific at HK$10.8374 per share. Upon completion of the buy-back, the public float could fall below 25%, and a waiver previously granted by The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited allows a minimum public float of 16.7%.

The announcement confirms compliance with the applicable public float requirement as of the end of January 2026. The remaining HK$20,000,000 in outstanding bonds is due to be redeemed at maturity on 5 February 2026, along with any accrued and unpaid interest.
