CATL Shareholder Transfers HK$3.59 Billion Worth of Shares from Citibank to HSBC

According to the latest data from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on May 7, a shareholder of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.,Ltd. (CATL) transferred shares valued at HK$3.59 billion from Citibank to HSBC. The transferred shares represent approximately 2.46% of the company's total market capitalization. In a recent research report, Morgan Stanley stated that CATL's continuous innovation has created a self-reinforcing cycle, rather than merely reacting to demand cycles. The investment bank raised its forecast for CATL's average annual compound profit growth rate for 2026 to 2028 from 25% to 30%. It upgraded its rating on the H-shares to "overweight" and designated them as a top pick, increasing the target price by 17% to HK$815. Concurrently, Morgan Stanley raised the target price for CATL's A-shares by 6% to RMB 595.
