Omdia's latest Public Display Market Tracker research shows that global public display and signage TV shipments exceeded 1.73 million units in the second quarter of 2026, up from 1.61 million units in the previous quarter.

Among these, IFP/touch displays led market growth, with shipments rising 13.7% quarter-over-quarter and 0.7% year-over-year.

Nearly all regions except Asia and Oceania (including Japan) achieved quarter-over-quarter growth in the second quarter of 2026. North America saw an increase of 68.0%, reaching double-digit growth; it was followed by Latin America and the Caribbean with 13.3% growth, and Western Europe with 11.6% growth.

In the North American market, leading IFP/touch display brands including BenQ, Newline, SMART Technologies, and ViewSonic together accounted for more than 60% of IFP/touch display shipments in the quarter.

Indonesia Education Rollout Expected to Accelerate IFP/Touch Display Demand

Omdia expects IFP/touch display shipments to grow substantially in the second half of 2026, mainly driven by the Indonesian government's plan to install interactive flat panel displays in nearly 77,000 schools in 2026, with subsequent plans to cover 100,000 schools in 2028 and 2029 respectively.

Omdia forecasts that Indonesia's IFP/touch display shipments will reach 250,000 units and 330,000 units in the third and fourth quarters of 2026 respectively, driving the Asia and Oceania market to achieve 46.0% year-over-year growth in 2026.

In the long term, IFP/touch displays will face increasingly intense competition from all-in-one LED displays (AIO) with touch functionality, particularly in the enterprise and meeting room markets. Competition among LED display manufacturers is equally fierce, with rising inventory levels and price pressures weighing on manufacturers' gross margins.

AI Applications Help Drive Growth in China's Signage Display Market

In the second quarter of 2026, signage and information display shipments maintained steady growth, rising 2.5% quarter-over-quarter and 7.9% year-over-year.

Among these, Samsung, LGE, and Newline together accounted for nearly 65% of global signage and information display shipments in the quarter. Many Chinese brands also achieved quarter-over-quarter shipment growth, following a relatively weak market performance in the first quarter due to the Spring Festival holiday.

In the mainland China market, short-term and medium-term growth opportunities are expected to come from the growing adoption of AI-enabled products in retail, public spaces, and enterprise sectors. In the enterprise sector, domestic hardware (including key components) as well as expanding software capabilities supported by smart industry policies are also expected to drive market growth.

Omdia further anticipates that display upgrades in cultural and tourism scenarios will further boost market demand for AI features. However, market budgets remain constrained in 2026, especially in the retail sector. Therefore, Omdia expects the widespread adoption of AI display solutions in education, enterprise environments, and public spaces to accelerate starting from 2027 and beyond.

World Cup and Meeting Room Upgrade Demand Support ProAV Market Growth

Public display shipments in the United States, Canada, and Mexico partially benefited from investments related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Host cities in North America and Latin America invested in large-size LCD and LED display systems to meet various audiovisual (AV) needs including broadcasting, security, and fan engagement.

During the event, IFP/touch displays and live streaming technologies were also widely used to enhance the viewing experience and audience interaction. In the broader ProAV industry, demand for broadcast AV technologies is also growing, including multi-camera production systems, switchers, and audio equipment, particularly in enterprise and workplace environments.

As enterprises expand production of live streaming and recorded video content, it is becoming increasingly common for corporate studios, universities, and live event venues to be equipped with in-house broadcast capabilities. Omdia expects this trend to continue through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.

Enterprise and meeting room upgrades remain important investment areas, especially in North America and Western Europe. However, many enterprises are adopting more cautious technology investment and upgrade strategies. Budgets are increasingly concentrated on mid-to-high specification products in video conferencing and collaboration ecosystems, rather than large-scale office deployments and upgrades.

Omdia expects ProAV market demand to remain stable through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027 as enterprises and universities continue to invest in smarter meeting rooms and teaching spaces. In Europe, with rising energy costs, the importance of energy-efficient signage displays is also increasing, driving the market to replace traditional displays and other AV equipment with more energy-efficient products.

Kelly Lum, Principal Analyst for Omdia's ProAV business, said: "The overall ProAV industry has maintained steady growth so far this year, improving on its performance in 2025. Like other industries, the ProAV market still faces uncertainties on multiple fronts including tariffs, supply chain pressures, rising memory costs, geopolitical tensions, and the macroeconomic environment. In addition, regional differences have significantly reshaped the ProAV industry over the past few years. However, as planning for next-generation ProAV spaces becomes clearer, substantial opportunities remain across various verticals. Customers are increasingly focused on total solutions that not only meet technical requirements but also reduce operating costs, improve utilization and engagement, simplify deployment and scaling, while providing greater flexibility."
