In the first half of this year, China's economy has maintained steady progress with improved quality and efficiency, achieving notable results across multiple sectors such as foreign trade and logistics, which fully demonstrate the country's strong economic resilience and vitality.

Foreign trade in the Yangtze River Delta region grew by 18% year-on-year in H1

During the first half of 2024, the total import and export value of the Yangtze River Delta region reached 9.62 trillion yuan, setting a new record for the same period and marking an 18% increase compared to the previous year. This figure accounts for 37.8% of China's total foreign trade.

In the first half of the year, Shanghai's exports surpassed the one trillion yuan mark for the first time. Driven by the boom in the artificial intelligence industry, robot exports surged by 120%. Cross-border e-commerce imports and exports exceeded 100 billion yuan, further enhancing the city's global hub functions. Jiangsu Province saw strong performance in electromechanical product exports, which made up over 70% of the province's total exports. Foreign-invested enterprises contributed significantly, accounting for 13.1 percentage points of the province's total foreign trade growth. Zhejiang Province's foreign trade continued to increase in terms of "new" and "green" content, with private enterprises playing a dominant role, contributing over 90% to the province's foreign trade growth. Notably, "little giant" and single champion enterprises achieved double-digit growth in both imports and exports. Anhui Province reported outstanding results in high-tech and high-value-added products, with automobile exports rising by 110%, ranking first in the country in both export volume and value. Exports to the European Union grew by over 40%, while trade with Latin America and Africa maintained double-digit growth.

Imports and exports via the New Western Land-Sea Corridor exceeded 500 billion yuan in H1

While foreign trade in the eastern region is flourishing, the western region's openness channels continue to improve. In the first half of the year, the total imports and exports through the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, involving 13+2 provinces and municipalities, exceeded 500 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 517.23 billion yuan. This represents a 13% increase year-on-year and sets a new record for the same period.

Cargo throughput on the Yangtze River mainline reached 1.97 billion tons in H1

The efficient operation of water and land logistics hubs provides solid capacity for smooth economic circulation. According to the Changjiang River Administration of Navigational Affairs, the ports along the Yangtze River mainline handled 1.97 billion tons of cargo in the first half of the year, including 14.218 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of container throughput, a 3.9% increase year-on-year. The transportation of key materials was well-supported, and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway operated in a stable and orderly manner.

State Grid Corporation invested over 310 billion yuan in fixed assets in H1

The State Grid Corporation reported that in the first half of the year, it invested over 310 billion yuan in fixed assets, a 12.6% increase year-on-year. Among these investments, 15 ultra-high voltage (UHV) projects and 37 pumped storage power stations are under accelerated construction. Additionally, investment in new energy grid connection projects continued to increase. As of the end of June, the installed capacity of new energy grid-connected within the State Grid's operational area reached 1.55 billion kilowatts.
