Wells Fargo Bets on Tech Rally: Q3 Boosts "Magnificent Seven" Holdings and Buys Nasdaq Call Options

According to a 13F filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Wells Fargo (WFC.US) reported its Q3 portfolio holdings as of September 30, 2025. The bank's total portfolio value reached $530 billion, up 2.02% from $483 billion in the previous quarter.

Wells Fargo added 501 new stocks and increased positions in 3,686 existing holdings during Q3, while reducing stakes in 2,068 stocks and liquidating 562 positions. The top ten holdings accounted for 19.54% of the total portfolio value.

Microsoft (MSFT.US) remained the largest holding, with approximately 33.72 million shares valued at $17.47 billion, up 1.89% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) and representing 3.32% of the portfolio. Apple (AAPL.US) ranked second, with 59.99 million shares worth $15.27 billion, a 3.85% QoQ increase, accounting for 2.90% of the portfolio. The iShares S&P 500 ETF (IVV.US) came in third, with 18.75 million shares valued at $12.55 billion, up 5.88% QoQ and making up 2.39% of the portfolio. NVIDIA (NVDA.US) was fourth, with 59.79 million shares worth $11.16 billion, a 4.32% QoQ rise, representing 2.12% of the portfolio. The iShares Core S&P Total U.S. Stock Market ETF (ITOT.US) rounded out the top five, with 63.19 million shares valued at $9.20 billion, up 6.61% QoQ and accounting for 1.75% of the portfolio.

Wells Fargo also increased its stakes in the remaining four "Magnificent Seven" stocks: Alphabet (GOOGL.US), Amazon (AMZN.US), Meta (META.US), and Tesla (TSLA.US), with holdings rising by 17.96%, 4.28%, 11.89%, and 24.07% QoQ, respectively.

Additionally, the bank adjusted its Nasdaq-focused options positions, significantly boosting its call options on the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US, CALL) by 66.40% QoQ while reducing put options (QQQ.US, PUT) by 1.96%.

The top five buys in Q3 were Apple, Alphabet, Invesco QQQ Trust call options, NVIDIA, and Broadcom (AVGO.US). The top five sells included the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US), Accenture (ACN.US), iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM.US), Vanguard Russell 2000 ETF (VTWO.US), and Chubb (CB.US).
