Gerry Keefe, the head of European and US commercial and investment banking at HSBC Holdings, has reportedly left the company to pursue a role outside the financial services industry. His responsibilities will be temporarily assumed by Jo Miyake, who currently leads corporate and institutional banking for Asia and the Middle East at HSBC. Keefe originally joined HSBC from Citigroup in 2021, serving as head of banking for the Americas. He was promoted to co-head of global banking in 2023 and, in January 2025, took on leadership of the combined US and European investment and commercial banking operations. Miyake, who joined HSBC from Bank of America in 2021, previously held the position of chief operating officer for commodity sales and trading at the US bank.
