Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport cancelled 388 inbound and outbound flights on August 9 due to the impact of Typhoon "White Dolphin," the 13th typhoon of the year. The cancellations were primarily concentrated in the period after 12:00. As of 15:00, the airport had completed 380 flights, with 160 flights still pending.

According to air traffic control weather forecasts, after the typhoon makes landfall, the maximum wind speed at Hangzhou Airport is expected to reach level 7. This could easily cause grounded aircraft to be blown away, tip over, or collide with ground facilities. To ensure operational safety, the airport plans to implement a unified tethering procedure for over 70 grounded aircraft today, using mooring ropes to secure the planes to the ground and ensure their safety during the typhoon's passage.

At the same time, Hangzhou Airport is intensifying patrols of the apron area, securing all non-motorized equipment in advance, and centrally relocating tugs for unified wind protection. A total of 76 large towbars and 106 small tow tractors have been repositioned. The airport has also increased the number of front-line staff on duty, conducting continuous risk and hazard inspections, patrolling the river channels, and lowering the water level within the airport boundary to ensure the smooth flow of water at 8 drainage outlets.

Inside the terminal, staff are working to notify passengers of flight cancellations, properly accommodating delayed passengers, and preparing emergency supplies for large-scale flight delays, such as snacks and blankets. At the airport's transportation center, four empty buses are on standby as emergency vehicles to support the evacuation and transfer of personnel during the typhoon.

Lei Xianjun, the duty supervisor of Hangzhou Airport's ground services department, reminds passengers that due to the large number of flight cancellations, many travelers may not have received the cancellation information in time. He advises passengers to contact their airline to check flight status before departing to avoid delays. If a flight is cancelled, passengers should contact the airline promptly to rebook and adjust their travel plans, or call the airport's customer service hotline at 0571-96299 for assistance.
