Shares of Brown & Brown (NYSE: BRO) tumbled 5.31% in after-hours trading on Monday, as the insurance brokerage reported second-quarter financial results that fell short of Wall Street expectations.
The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.07, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $1.08 by 0.93 percent. Quarterly revenue came in at $1.676 billion, below the $1.715 billion consensus estimate, a shortfall of approximately 2.3 percent. While revenue still increased 30.43 percent year-over-year, the miss triggered immediate selling pressure in the extended session.
The earnings shortfall was the primary driver behind the after-hours decline, as investors reacted to the weaker-than-expected top and bottom-line performance.
