Australian Shares Nudge Higher at The Open Even as Wall Street Slips

Stock market trading has moved slightly higher in the early session, defying a softer lead from Wall Street, while market participants look ahead to important inflation figures due out later this morning.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index gained 5.9 points, or 0.1 per cent, to reach 8715.20 as of 10.08am AEST on Wednesday, with seven of the 11 sectors trading in positive territory, led by technology.
This followed a 0.2 per cent decline on Wall Street overnight.
