With the approach of the Minor New Year, instant retail platforms are experiencing robust sales of festive goods. Data reveals that Alibaba's flash sales of New Year products have surged by more than 347% year-on-year. Orders from third- and fourth-tier cities have increased by over 580% compared to the same period last year, with cities such as Daqing, Xianyang, Yichang, Weifang, and Zhanjiang showing higher growth rates than major first- and second-tier cities. Driven by the wave of people returning to their hometowns, the lower-tier market is increasingly becoming the main driver of consumption during the New Year shopping season.
Additionally, this Lunar New Year, Alibaba's flash sales initiative has partnered with retailers and quality warehouse stores nationwide to remain open throughout the holiday period. The number of participating merchants has grown by 32.9% year-on-year, and the variety of New Year products has significantly expanded compared to last year. In rural and county areas, 30-minute delivery has become the norm. During the holiday, over 90% of partnered stores, including chain supermarkets and Alibaba convenience stores in key cities across the country, remained open for online business.
