Market Overview
Wall Street indexes closed up on Monday (Sept. 29) with the Nasdaq leading gains as investors bought heavyweight technology stocks and shrugged off the uncertainty of a potential U.S. government shutdown and hawkish remarks from Federal Reserve officials.

The online brokerage firm Robinhood shares surged 12.3% to an all-time high on Monday. This year, it has more than tripled in price.
Chief executive Vlad Tenev said in a social media post Monday morning that more than four billion event contracts have been traded on Robinhood’s platform since the company started offering the product. Last week, a pair of Piper Sandler analysts raised their price target for Robinhood stock, citing the brokerage’s fast-growing prediction market business.

The price of bitcoin on Monday rebounded above $114,000, with about a 3.6% gain over the past 24 hours. Bitcoin had tumbled below $109,000 on Friday, following a major liquidation wave from Sept. 22. Ethereum surged 3.5% over the prior 24 hours to trade near $4,180 on Monday, pushing its 2025 gain to roughly 25%.
Crypto stocks rallied on Monday, with MARA Holdings up 15.7%, CleanSpark up 14.7%, Riot Platforms up 11.8%, and Coinbase up 6.9%.

After U.S. President Donald Trump shared a video on Sunday promoting the health benefits of hemp-derived cannabidiol, U.S.-listed shares of cannabis-related companies rose. Canopy Growth rallied 17.2% to $1.57 while Cronos Group rose almost 13% to $2.97 and Tilray jumped 60.9% to $1.85.
