Across Zhejiang Province, a growing number of enterprises are coming to a shared realization: green transformation is no longer an optional bonus for business development, but a baseline standard that determines whether a company can continue to survive. How can the green philosophy of "development rights equal survival rights" be practiced?

At the production facility of Vinda Paper, an internationally advanced tissue paper production line is operating at full capacity. The drying process, being a major energy consumer, accounts for 65% of total energy consumption. This year, the company has significantly upgraded equipment such as fans and steam hoods, reducing energy consumption in this process to below 60%. Zheng Fei, Senior Supervisor of the Process Technology Department at Vinda Paper (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., stated: "We need to achieve a balance point across three aspects: technological renovation, production, and quality. Through this technological upgrade, we can save 13,500 tons of steam annually, and save 50 yuan on every single roll of paper."

The paper production line is a systematic and comprehensive project; without green transformation, it means continuously rising energy costs. In response, Vinda's Zhejiang factory planned ahead and invested nearly 20 million yuan to implement systematic energy efficiency improvements in high-energy-consuming processes. Calculations show that just steam and electricity consumption alone can reduce expenditures by nearly 5 million yuan annually, with the entire investment expected to be recovered within four years. Lin Ling, Measurement Supervisor at Vinda Paper (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd.'s Engineering Technology Department, noted: "Low carbon will definitely be a hard threshold in the future. Energy costs now account for the bulk of our costs, so we must implement energy-saving technological upgrades at the root of our processes and equipment to achieve structural cost reduction."

By integrating carbon reduction throughout the entire manufacturing process, Vinda's Zhejiang factory has now achieved 100% recovery of fiber and white water, with a water resource reuse rate of 99.54%. Liu Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Development and Reform Bureau in Longyou County, Quzhou City, emphasized: "Green transformation does not deprive enterprises of their development rights; rather, it grants them better and more long-term survival rights. Going green is efficiency."

Using green transformation to win "development rights" for enterprises, at the project site of Satellite Chemical in Jiaxing, a new-type extraction unit is running smoothly, with automated control systems monitoring various process parameters in real time. Lv Xuejie, Deputy General Manager of the Jiaxing Base of Satellite Chemical Co., Ltd., explained: "The water content in the absorption tower has dropped from 45% to 5%, reducing wastewater discharge by 5 tons per hour, which amounts to 400,000 tons less wastewater discharged annually."

Chemical enterprises are highly dependent on the global market; failing to achieve green transformation means facing multiple dilemmas such as policy restrictions and hindered overseas expansion. The deployment of the new unit not only brings energy savings and emission reductions, but also grants the company more autonomy in exporting its products, continuously boosting overseas orders. Zhu Weigang, President of Satellite Chemical's Xingyuan Technology, stated: "By sharing the waste heat from upstream chemical processes and newly added zero-carbon steam, we can achieve sharing across the downstream industrial chain. As the industrial chain extends, every link adds value, giving us greater confidence to compete for international orders."

According to the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the province has now promoted key enterprises to carry out carbon-reduction technological transformation through "one enterprise, one policy" measures, and has organized eleven municipal service teams to provide point-to-point precise assistance.
