Mudanjiang City held a press conference on February 10 to announce its 2026 Spring Festival holiday cultural, sports, commercial, and tourism initiatives aimed at benefiting residents and stimulating consumption. During the holiday period, the city will launch a series of activities under the theme "Ice and Snow World, Dragon-Horse Spirit," inviting both domestic tourists and local residents to experience a vibrant winter celebration.
The city has integrated cultural and tourism resources across the region, creating a consumption-oriented system centered around core products and themed routes. Six distinctive ice and snow tourism clusters will be promoted, including an urban "15-minute ice and snow leisure circle" to boost local spending, ice fishing and dining experiences at Jingpo Lake, and cross-border cultural tourism in Hengdaohezi Russian-style scenic area. Additional highlights include extended nighttime activities in Snow Town, traditional folk experiences in Weihu Mountain Snow Village and Xiaozhujia Ice Village, and new cross-border leisure consumption opportunities in Suifenhe and Dongning ports.
Eight winter-themed routes have been designed to seamlessly connect key consumption nodes, catering to diverse visitor preferences. Interactive activities will enhance the festive atmosphere, with Snow Town hosting daily flash mobs and intangible cultural heritage performances, while riverside commercial streets will feature Northeastern specialty goods. Weihu Mountain Snow Village will offer immersive traditions such as making dumplings, and Jingpo Lake will showcase ancient ice fishing ceremonies paired with fresh fish sales and ice-hotpot dining.
Urban attractions will include container art performances at Culture Palace Square, complemented by creative sales, local snacks, and interactive experiences. A wide range of winter sports will be available, with ski resorts like Mudanfeng and Hengdaohezi offering slopes for all skill levels. Public parks will provide ice skating, sledding, and snow football, while Jingpo Lake will host ice diving and fishing activities, with free access to all ice items in Xiaozhujia Ice Village.
To encourage participation, the city has introduced preferential policies, including limited free attraction tickets through stamp collection activities, half-price tickets for local residents at select sites, and special offers for visitors born in the Year of the Horse or with the character "Ma" in their name. Cross-border incentives include discounts for Russian tourist groups at Suifenhe ski resorts and streamlined services for international visitors.
Simultaneously, Mudanjiang will launch a 2026 online Spring Festival shopping event, integrating catering, ice-snow activities, and e-commerce. Over 20 promotional activities will be organized across the region, featuring special discounts and trade-in programs. Culinary events highlighting local food culture will also be held, showcasing historical dishes and regional ingredients to create a unique winter dining experience.
