DeepMind Researcher Noam Shazeer to Transition to OpenAI

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company, informed some of its staff on Wednesday that Noam Shazeer, a researcher from Google DeepMind, is set to join the firm. His research work forms the technical foundation for the wave of generative AI. Shazeer left Google in 2021 to co-found the chatbot startup Character.AI. In 2024, as part of a recruitment agreement valued at $2.7 billion, Google rehired him, bringing him back to its AI team, DeepMind.
