SpaceX Presents a $28.5 Trillion TAM, a Figure Demanding Ultra-Long-Term Perspective

SpaceX has indicated to investors that it is targeting a total addressable market as large as $28.5 trillion.

However, the issue is that $22.7 trillion of this figure is attributed to the enterprise application segment, where SpaceX currently has almost no substantive business operations.

Analyst Arnal Dayaratna from market research firm IDC stated, "I believe SpaceX has significant potential in the enterprise application space, but frankly, at this stage, it has virtually no market positioning or competitiveness in that segment."

SpaceX's AI business offers developers large language models that can be embedded into software.

Data from startup platform OpenRouter indicates that its model performance lags behind competitors such as Alibaba, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google, MiniMax, Tencent, and Xiaomi.

SpaceX might capture a larger market share through acquisition deals.

In April of this year, the company signed an agreement to potentially acquire AI code development startup Cursor for $60 billion.

Dayaratna noted, "Cursor develops its own foundational models, specializing in program development and project building. This technology is fully capable of expanding into broader digital construction scenarios — essentially developing various digital solutions, whether the user is a programmer or another knowledge worker."

SpaceX disclosed in its IPO prospectus that it is collaborating with Tesla to build an agent AI platform named "Macrohard."

The company defines it as: an artificial intelligence platform with autonomous agent capabilities that can fully replicate various digital workflows, assisting humans in operating computers, covering coding, product development, enterprise management, and even end-to-end business processes.

Dayaratna believes that to achieve a major breakthrough in the productivity software market and compete directly with Google and Microsoft, SpaceX would need to develop more powerful AI large language models.
