据悉，NRG能源将斥资120亿美元从能源基础设施投资公司LS Power手中收购发电资产。此次收购包括天然气发电设施和虚拟发电厂，预计将使NRG的发电能力翻倍，达到25千兆瓦（GW）。该交易将为NRG在东北部和德克萨斯州等主要市场增加18个天然气发电设施，总计13千兆瓦的发电能力。NRG首席执行官Larry Coben表示："我们正处于电力需求超级周期的早期阶段。"
此次收购反映了NRG对不断增长的电力需求的押注。美国能源信息署预计，在人工智能和加密货币专用数据中心激增以及家庭和企业用电量增加的推动下，美国的用电量将在2025年创下历史新高。NRG表示，此次收购将立即增加每股收益，公司目前预计每股利润的长期复合年增长率将从之前预期的10%提高到14%。此外，NRG还公布了第一季度利润增长情况，净收入从去年同期的5.11亿美元增至7.5亿美元，进一步提振了投资者信心。
