South Korea's benchmark Kospi index reversed an early slide to finish higher, buoyed by gains in battery and energy shares during the final trading session. The Kospi closed up 0.5% at 6,820.02 points, after tumbling as much as 3.6% earlier in the day. For the month of August, the broad index posted a 3.4% advance.
The late-session rebound underscored renewed buying interest in key sectors, helping the market recover from a sharp intraday drop. The monthly increase reflects sustained momentum despite periodic volatility throughout August.
