上周跨越党派界限投票支持国土安全部拨款法案的七名民主党众议员之一、纽约州议员汤姆·苏奥齐向支持者表示，他对此次投票感到懊悔。
苏奥齐在发给竞选邮件列表的声明中坦言："我未能将国土安全部拨款投票视为对移民及海关执法局在明尼阿波利斯市非法与不道德行为的民意裁决。我长期批评该机构的违法行为，今后必须更清晰地表明这一立场。"
尽管苏奥齐曾批评移民及海关执法局在明尼苏达等城市的执法手段，但他此前仍以"避免政府停摆、为联邦应急管理署及海岸警卫队等机构提供资金"为由为此项拨款案辩护。
该拨款法案最终以220票赞成、207票反对的结果于上周在众议院通过。除苏奥齐外，得克萨斯州的亨利·奎利亚尔、缅因州的贾里德·戈尔登、华盛顿州的玛丽·格鲁森坎普·佩雷斯、纽约州的劳拉·吉伦、北卡罗来纳州的唐·戴维斯及得克萨斯州的维森特·冈萨雷斯等六名民主党议员亦加入共和党阵营支持该议案。
冈萨雷斯周一在社交平台X发布的视频中试图与移民及海关执法局经费划清界限，回应选民质疑时强调："我投票支持的是国土安全部整体预算，绝非为移民及海关执法局提供资金。"他同时呼吁对该机构行为展开进一步调查。
