根据公司发布的财报，截至6月30日的第二季度，大都会人寿调整后每股收益为2.02美元，低于分析师平均预期的2.15美元，同时也低于去年同期的2.28美元。公司季度营收同比下降4.1%至179.2亿美元，同样未达分析师预期的185.3亿美元。
财报显示，大都会人寿本季度业绩下滑主要受到承保利润率下降的影响。公司人寿和非医疗健康产品的承保利润率出现下滑，导致调整后的保费、费用和其他收入下降6%至127.2亿美元。尽管公司净投资收入增长了9%，达到57亿美元，但未能抵消承保业务的疲软表现。这些因素共同导致投资者信心受挫，引发了股价的大幅下跌。
