Muyuan Foods Group Co.,Ltd. and Alibaba Cloud have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build a large-scale AI model for pig farming, aiming to deeply integrate artificial intelligence with the traditional pig breeding industry.
As the world's largest pig farming enterprise, Muyuan Foods has established a complete industrial chain covering feed, breeding, farming, and slaughtering. The company utilizes 3.3 million sets of intelligent equipment across its entire supply chain, generating 2 billion data points daily. This data is combined with over three decades of accumulated deep knowledge and practical technical pathways in the underlying principles of animal husbandry. Alibaba Cloud, a globally leading cloud computing and artificial intelligence technology company, contributes its ultra-large-scale computing power platform and profound expertise in large model development.
The collaboration is designed to merge Muyuan's industry depth with Alibaba Cloud's technological prowess to create a specialized large model for the vertical field of pig farming. This initiative is intended to propel the traditional pig farming industry towards modernization and industrial upgrading. Currently, Muyuan's "Muyuan AI Little Shepherd," developed based on Alibaba Cloud's Tongyi Qianwen model, is already deployed across more than 1,000 pig farms. This model enables functions such as farm management analysis, veterinary health diagnosis and prevention, and internal knowledge Q&A for various scenarios, facilitating the rapid replication of advanced pig farming techniques to every farm and transforming the traditional "experience-based farming" approach.
For instance, while diagnosing herd diseases previously relied on experienced veterinarians or farm workers—a time-consuming process with variable accuracy—"Muyuan AI Little Shepherd" can now deliver results in just one second, quickly identifying pig diseases and providing prevention and treatment plans. Similarly, farm operation analysis, which once required manual consolidation of multiple reports and hours of calculation, can now be instantly generated by the system, producing operational reports for each farm and each breeding batch along with performance improvement suggestions.
This represents a paradigm shift from "experience-based farming" to "data-driven farming," not only reducing the technical complexity of breeding but also further enhancing the precision and responsiveness of pig production management.
The Chief Financial Officer of Muyuan Foods, Gao Tong, stated that the future pig farming large model will be shared and opened to the industry, equipping every pig farmer with a "super intelligent assistant." This will allow farmers to access professional guidance and technical support during production, making pig farming easier, more profitable, and transforming it into a modern industry.
