Singapore Exchange Limited (S68) released its monthly market statistics for August on Aug, 31 2025, covering both the securities and derivatives markets. The bourse recorded 21 trading days during the month.

Total securities turnover reached 31,802 million shares with a value of 33,613 million Singapore dollars, up 17 % year-on-year from 28,762 million Singapore dollars in Aug, 2024. Average daily turnover stood at 1,601 million Singapore dollars, compared with 1,470 million Singapore dollars in July. Overall turnover velocity improved to 43 % from 41 % in July.

At month-end, 607 securities were listed on the exchange and total market capitalisation rose to 967,655 million Singapore dollars, an increase of 19 % from 811,054 million Singapore dollars a year earlier.

Derivatives activity totalled 27,379,196 contracts, representing a daily average of 1,325,870 contracts. Within this, futures accounted for 26,550,926 contracts, while options contributed 821,380 contracts. Overall derivatives volume grew 11 % year-on-year.

Equity index futures remained the largest segment, led by 10,416,492 contracts in FTSE China A50 Index Futures, 58 % higher than a year ago. The GIFT Nifty 50 Index Futures recorded 1,526,955 contracts, bringing its financial-year-to-date total (Jul–Aug) to 3,131,878 contracts.

In the fixed-income market, 90 new bond listings raised 22,333 million Singapore dollars during August. Foreign issuers accounted for 82 % of new bond listings, while non-Singapore-dollar issues made up 89 % of the total.

SGX said assets under management in its post-trade business reached 970,678 million Singapore dollars at the end of August, up 14 % year-on-year.
