Attention, everyone! High-speed railway construction in Zhejiang is in full swing. The Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway and the new Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway will add multiple new stations. Let's take a look.
Basic Overview of the Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway Project
The Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway starts from Tongxiang Station, passes through Tongxiang City and Haining City in Jiaxing City, crosses the Qiantang River and heads south, passes through Qiantang District and Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou City and Keqiao District in Shaoxing City, and finally reaches Shaoxing North Station. The newly built main line is approximately 72 kilometers long, of which the Tongxiang to Qiantang section is about 34 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and the Qiantang to Shaoxing section is about 38 kilometers with a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour. A connecting line of about 13 kilometers from Hangzhou South Station to Xiaoshan Airport Station is also planned, with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The planned construction period for the project is 4 years.
The entire line will include stations such as Tongxiang, Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, Xiaoshan Airport, and Shaoxing North. Among them, Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, and Xiaoshan Airport are newly built stations.
Basic Overview of the New Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway Project
The new Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway will commence full-scale construction within 2026. The preliminary phase of the project broke ground in September 2025, with a total construction period of 4 years, meaning it is expected to be completed by 2029. The Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway is located in the southern part of Shanghai and the northern part of Zhejiang Province. The line starts in the east at the under-construction Shanghai East Station of the Oriental Hub, utilizes the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway to Situan Station, connects with the under-construction Nantong-Ningbo High-Speed Railway via Jiaxing South Station in the Jiaxing area, links with the under-construction Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway via Tongxiang Station, and terminates at Hangzhou West Station. The newly built main line is approximately 197 kilometers long (about 54 kilometers in the Shanghai section and about 143 kilometers in the Zhejiang section), with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The entire line will have 9 stations in total, including 4 newly built stations: Fengxian, Shanghai Jinshan, Pinghu City, and Linping North; 4 stations to be renovated and expanded: Situan, Jiaxing South, Tongxiang, and Hangzhou West; and 1 existing station to be utilized: Shanghai East.
