On December 4, the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Zhuxi County, Hubei Province, issued a statement in response to media reports regarding irregularities in the bidding process for its machinery and equipment leasing project. The bureau stated that it has terminated the bidding procedure and initiated an investigation in collaboration with relevant authorities. The matter will be handled in accordance with laws and regulations based on the findings.

Earlier reports revealed that on December 3, concerns were raised after netizens discovered that the names of five evaluation committee members listed in the winning bid announcement for the project matched the first five names in a Baidu document titled "10,000 Common Chinese Names." The members were identified as Zhang Jiwei, Lin Guorui, Lin Wenshu, Lin Yanan, and Jiang Yiyun—identical to the names in the online document.

According to the bidding results, the winning supplier was Zhuxi Chuangtuo Labor Service Co., Ltd., with a contract value of 31.88 million yuan.

The case has drawn public scrutiny, prompting authorities to take corrective action.
