An announcement was made by Shanghai Sanyou Medical Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 688085) regarding a recent development.
Its subsidiary, the French company Implanet, has entered into a scientific and clinical research partnership with the Amiens-Picardie University Hospital Center (CHU Amiens Picardie) in France. This collaboration focuses on the surgical robot system, Chunfenghuayu 8i Robotics.
The partnership will undertake clinical evaluation studies and pursue CE Mark certification in the European Union for what is described as the world's first multi-arm humanoid intelligent surgical robot for spinal applications. The initial installation of this multi-arm intelligent spine surgery robot in Europe has now been completed.
This installation marks the formal commencement of a series of scientific and clinical research activities in Europe for the Chunfenghuayu 8i Robotics system, targeting spinal and neurosurgery. Its advanced core technologies, including electromagnetic navigation, integrated digital microscopy, multi-arm coordination, and the Shuimutianpeng ultrasonic osteotomy technology, will be validated within a complex, real-world clinical environment in Europe.
Currently, the multi-arm humanoid intelligent surgical robot from Chunfenghuayu 8i Robotics has been installed for research and clinical purposes at five hospitals across North America, Asia, and Europe.
