"In 2024, Yancheng Port Binhai Port Area's cargo throughput exceeded 19 million tons, representing a 6.8% year-on-year increase. In 2025, with the addition of coal, grain, commercial vehicles, ore and other cargo types, we expect to achieve a cargo throughput of 24 million tons," said Yang Bin, Chairman of Yancheng Port Binhai Port Investment and Development Co., Ltd.

Yancheng Port Binhai Port Area is a national first-class open port and serves as the gateway to the sea for the Huaihe River Basin. It is one of the few natural deep-water ports along Jiangsu's coast capable of accommodating 100,000 to 300,000-ton berths. The port is also a key coastal comprehensive hub port under construction in Jiangsu Province, functioning as a multifunctional comprehensive port primarily handling bulk cargo, commercial vehicles, and containers.

According to reports, the port plans 78 berths with a designed throughput capacity of 200 million tons. The main port basin operation area, sea-river intermodal operation area, and warehousing logistics park operation area are now officially operational. The port features 677,700 square meters of storage yards, eight modern warehouses totaling 107,600 square meters, and 453,500 square meters of automobile storage areas. Currently under construction are the Phase III general terminal project in the northern section of the main port basin and Phase I of the liquid bulk cargo terminal in the main port basin.

"The port enjoys superior natural endowments, characterized by deep water close to shore, extensive anchorage areas, flat seabed, and minimal tidal range, making it an excellent deep-water port site with favorable conditions for channel and wharf construction," Yang Bin explained. In 2024, the port handled seven cargo types including transshipment of sand, nickel iron, fly ash, coal slag, gypsum, blades, and steel, generating revenue of 170 million yuan.

At the construction site of the Phase III general terminal project in Binhai Port Area, workers are busy at their respective positions, presenting a bustling scene. The project requires a total investment of approximately 800 million yuan and includes one 100,000-ton general berth with a total length of 310 meters. The designed throughput capacity is 4.15 million tons per year, meeting the requirements for 2.7 million tons of bulk cargo and 1.2 million tons of general cargo annually.

Since the beginning of this year, Yancheng Port Binhai Port Area has successively opened new international routes to Jordan's Aqaba Port and UAE's Dubai Jebel Ali Port, directly driving significant increases in automobile roll-on/roll-off export batches and throughput. Chinese automotive brands including BYD, Changan, and Chery are now "going global" from this port to markets worldwide.

Yang Bin noted that the port's roll-on/roll-off business volume has now ranked among the top three of Jiangsu's coastal ports. According to its functional positioning and development characteristics, the port actively collaborates with major energy projects within Binhai Economic Development Zone, including State Power Investment Corporation's coal-power integration project and CNOOC's Yancheng "Green Energy Port," striving to create an integrated "port + industry + energy" development model.

To continuously optimize this "gateway to the sea at our doorstep," Yancheng Port Binhai Port Area has prioritized planning for the construction of dedicated container and automobile roll-on/roll-off terminals in the northern section of the main port basin. Simultaneously, it is implementing the 200,000-ton channel project for the northern port basin and Phase II breakwater project, laying the foundation for future development as a "multimodal transport golden hub."

Sailing toward the deep blue, Yancheng Port Binhai Port Area maintains its momentum. From explosive growth in automobile roll-on/roll-off business to the clustering of major energy projects, from continuously expanding international routes to accelerating construction of multimodal transport systems, this young port serves regional high-quality economic development with its progressive stance as a "deep-water major port and industry-strong port."
