Qingdao Port and Hamburg Port Forge New Sister Port Partnership

On June 23, a sister port agreement was signed between Qingdao Port International Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 601298) and the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) at the Shandong Port Group headquarters.

Representing their respective organizations at the signing ceremony were Su Jianguang, Party Committee Standing Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of the Group, and Friedrich Stuhrmann, Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Board Member of the Hamburg Port Authority.

Delegations from Shandong Port, Hamburg Port, and client representatives attended the event.

Ports serve as critical and foundational infrastructure hubs. In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between China and Germany has maintained steady growth. As major international shipping hubs, both Qingdao Port International Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 601298) and Hamburg Port play a pivotal bridging role in this bilateral trade.

The year 2026 will mark the tenth anniversary of the signing of the strategic cooperation memorandum between the two ports. This new sister port agreement signifies Hamburg Port's formal inclusion as the 41st sister port of Qingdao Port International Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 601298), elevating a decade-long partnership and establishing a valuable platform for deeper dialogue.

During discussions, both parties presented their respective development updates, reviewed their close collaborative history, and engaged in in-depth talks on future cooperation directions.

A consensus was reached to leverage this event as an opportunity to seize development prospects. The ports aim to combine their strengths to jointly address challenges, share opportunities, consolidate cooperative consensus and developmental synergy, enhance supply chain resilience, continuously foster a green shipping ecosystem, and explore innovative models for smart port and shipping cooperation.

The goal is to create a globally exemplary green shipping corridor to better serve Sino-German economic and trade exchanges.

At the meeting, Friedrich Stuhrmann presented Hamburg Port's low-carbon development pathway, while Wu Yuzhen, Party Committee Member and Executive Deputy General Manager of Qingdao Port International Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 601298), shared the port's experience in smart and green construction.

Xu Wei, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Shandong Port Overseas Development Group, introduced the group's international business operations.

Attendees also exchanged views on trends and opportunities in international port and logistics cooperation.

According to the agreement, building on their past collaboration, the two ports will deepen cooperation and exchanges on the green shipping corridor, focusing on key areas such as artificial intelligence and green port development.

The objective is to drive the construction of the green shipping corridor towards more pragmatic and fruitful outcomes.

Following the signing ceremony, the visiting delegation toured Qingdao Port International Co.,Ltd.'s (ASX: 601298) automated container terminal and its general cargo digital intelligence center.
