The 2025 Hurun Rich List was recently released, with Nongfu Spring founder Zhong Shanshan topping the chart for the fourth time with a net worth of 530 billion RMB. ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming came in second with 470 billion RMB, while Tencent founder Pony Ma (Ma Huateng) retained third place with 465 billion RMB. CATL's Zeng Yuqun ranked fourth with 330 billion RMB, and Xiaomi founder Lei Jun secured fifth place with 326 billion RMB.

Despite ranking fifth overall, Lei Jun recorded the highest wealth growth among entrepreneurs this year (the Hurun Rich List's valuation cutoff was September 1, 2025). His wealth surged by 196 billion RMB, marking a 151% increase from the previous year.

Hurun, founder of the Hurun Rich List, shared a video on social media, dubbing Lei Jun the "Growth King" and humorously calculating that "the time it takes him to bend down and pick up 10,000 RMB costs him another 10,000 RMB."

Hurun explained: "If 10,000 RMB drops on the ground and Lei Jun picks it up, he’s already lost another 10,000 RMB." Here’s the breakdown: Lei Jun’s wealth grew by 196 billion RMB over the past year. Breaking it down, this translates to a daily increase of 536 million RMB, an hourly gain of 20.83 million RMB, a minute-by-minute rise of 370,000 RMB, and a staggering 6,000+ RMB per second.

"So, if Lei Jun takes one second to bend down and another to stand back up, he’s already lost 10,000 RMB," Hurun concluded.

Hurun also attributed Lei Jun’s wealth surge to several key factors: the explosive growth of Xiaomi’s automotive business, improved profitability from its premium smartphone segment, strong global smartphone sales (ranking third worldwide), success in IoT devices, and his role as a representative of "new quality productivity" with many factories now being fully automated. Additionally, Xiaomi’s strong branding and efficient use of self-media have significantly reduced marketing costs.
