At the 2026 Apsara Conference, held in Hangzhou from September 22 to 24, Joe Tsai, Chairman of the Board of Alibaba, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the transformative power of artificial intelligence. He noted that in recent years, AI has continuously expanded people's perceptions of what technology can achieve.

Tsai highlighted that AI possesses vast potential for growth, with the key lying in its ability to be deployed in real-world scenarios and achieve large-scale application. He pointed out that AI has already driven advancements in areas such as autonomous driving, embodied intelligence, and world models, which in turn enhance productivity across numerous industries. This is the essence of "developing and using technology in-house," transforming AI from a technical breakthrough into tangible value creation.

"As everyone can see, Alibaba is firmly investing in full-stack AI development, continuously building a comprehensive system that spans chips, cloud infrastructure, models, model services, and intelligent agent applications. These five layers work in synergy, forming a complete pathway from technical capability to industrial application, ensuring that every technological advancement can be quickly translated into industrial progress," he said.

Tsai also addressed the current global landscape, stating that while the world is full of uncertainties, technological innovation remains a vital force driving growth, improving lives, and shaping the future. He concluded, "We need open collaboration and pragmatic innovation now more than ever.
