China's Industrial Natural Gas Output Rises 3% in First Quarter

Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on April 16 shows that China's industrial natural gas output above the designated size reached 68.1 billion cubic meters in the first quarter, marking a year-on-year increase of 3.0%. In March alone, production stood at 23.4 billion cubic meters, also up 3.0% compared to the same period last year, with the growth rate accelerating by 0.1 percentage points from the January-February period. The average daily output in March was 750 million cubic meters.

Crude oil production continued to expand. In March, industrial crude oil output above the designated size totaled 19.07 million tons, rising 0.2% year-on-year, with an average daily output of 615,000 tons. For the first three months of the year, crude oil output reached 54.8 million tons, up 1.3% from the same period in the previous year.

Raw coal production remained stable. March saw industrial raw coal output hold steady at 440 million tons, unchanged from a year earlier, while daily output averaged 14.21 million tons. Over the January-March period, raw coal output amounted to 1.20 billion tons, a slight increase of 0.1%.

Electricity generation by industrial enterprises above the designated size maintained steady growth. In March, power generation reached 802.5 billion kilowatt-hours, up 1.4% year-on-year, though the growth rate slowed by 2.7 percentage points compared to the first two months. Average daily power generation in March was 25.89 billion kilowatt-hours. Cumulative power generation for the first quarter totaled 2.3782 trillion kilowatt-hours, reflecting a 3.4% increase from the same period last year.
