Oil prices declined during early Asian trading hours, while German bond futures fluctuated and moved upward after Friedrich Merz indicated he would remain as Chancellor despite his party experiencing its most severe state election defeat on record. Bond futures rose by 27 ticks to reach 120.59. The euro held steady against the U.S. dollar, trading at 1.1481.
