The 2025 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit officially opened on November 7 under the theme "Building an Open, Cooperative, Safe, and Inclusive Digital Future—Jointly Creating a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace." First proposed in 2015, the vision of a "shared future in cyberspace" has now taken root globally, showcasing China's wisdom and responsibility in digital governance.
Delegates from around the world praised China's technological advancements during the summit. Botswana’s Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs representative, Bosupeng Moemedi, expressed admiration for China's rapid AI integration, stating, "Everything here is incredibly advanced. From daily services to industrial production, technology is everywhere."
Wuzhen itself serves as a microcosm of China's digital society. AI-powered infrastructure, such as smart traffic systems and robotic assistants, enhances daily life, while the "Light of the Internet" expo showcased cutting-edge innovations like embodied robots and AI-driven healthcare solutions. Eritrea’s National Security Agency representative, Girmay Daniel Solomon, noted, "AI is still unfamiliar in my country, but China’s progress is inspiring."
Iran’s technology park specialist, Hamid Shojasanchuli, highlighted China’s role as a global tech pillar, emphasizing its potential to drive worldwide digital transformation.
Beyond domestic growth, China has actively supported global digital inclusion through projects like the 2Africa undersea cable and rural connectivity initiatives in Africa and Central Asia. Zambia’s National Heritage Conservation Commission representative, Mudenda Mike Milan, praised China’s inclusive approach: "China fosters collaboration, making cross-border trade seamless."
Uganda’s Minister of ICT, Chris Baryomunsi, stressed the importance of shared development, while International AI Governance Association Chair John Higgins commended China’s governance frameworks for balancing innovation and risk.
China’s contributions extend to global policy, with initiatives like the Global Data Security Proposal and AI Governance Guidelines promoting multilateral cooperation. Frederic Werner of the ITU praised China’s vision: "AI must benefit all, not widen inequalities—China’s principles align with this goal."
